We have been here the last 4 days and have loved it. It is so relaxed and the people are so friendly we feel like we are in a different world.
We went to this amazing waterfall and Steve decided it would be a great idea to climb to the top so relunctantly I ageed! The only reason I kept climbing was becuase I was too scared to go back down again but when we reached the top the walk across the waterfall seemed even more scary so we had to climb down again and I reverted to crawling on my hands and knees! The swim at the bottom was great though and worth the hike!
We have been doing loads of exercise, climbing to the top of hills to see sunsets, cycling around the town and masses of walking. But to compensate we found a little beach on a bank of the Mekong where we relax on sunbeds every evening and watch the sunset (not more sunset photos I hear the poor people say who are going to have to look at the photos!).
Bug Update - We almost ran over a snake on our bikes yesterday but it wasn't too big (infact it was tiny!). What was more scary was the huge red centipede that we spotted walking home in the dark one night. If that has made it's way in our backpacks I will not be happy!
Travel update - We have been on one boat trip here and it was fine, the boat didn't sink (I did manage to spot a leak though), there was no stop and it didn't rock too much. In fact I can almost say I am not scared of boats, on a river. One fear down a million more to go!
We are leaving here on Friday morning and heading to Vang Vieng. It will be Steve's first trip on an Asia bus but I persuaded him to take a mini bus rather than the public bus so it should be ok!
